From Columbus Day to Independence Day to Thanksgiving, the U.S. pretty much specializes in taking dates that celebrate genocide and discrimination, and repackaging them as family-friendly holidays. So each November, when Thanksgiving approaches, you may wonder exactly why Thanksgiving is bad.
Not only is Thanksgiving offensive to Indigenous people, but it glorifies colonialism, slavery, and even epidemics. Many Americans who celebrate Thanksgiving have no idea just how cruel the holiday’s origins are, while those who do may choose to either boycott the holiday, or just use it as an excuse to express general gratitude, gather with family, and eat comfort foods.

Sophie needs to have her teeth whitened.
Here’s another take on it, Sophie: This is what happens to a country that fails to control its borders.
As a Viet/Cold War veteran, this humble half-breed Mojave believes that the holiday known as Thanksgiving Day, has been a link-pin for America, for all these years and all the troubles we Americans have shared.
Major hurricanes, fires, floods, pestilence, wars, riots, and other national scandals, but we are still standing.
We, as have I, walked through all this, with the gratitude to have done so, and with the courage to stand up, meet the Sun, and go forth.
yes, and they only want non whites entering our country.
Native Americans were ok with open borders. See where that got them.
Thank you. I came here to post this.
I teach my children that Thanksgiving is a celebration of Capitalism over Socialism. this green weenie chick doesn’t know sh*t from shinola.
Folks,
When I think of Thanksgiving, I think of the following:
You have experienced some very tough few years. Survival is your only goal.
You have sweated and worked hard for a food supply that doesn’t look like very much. Local legend says the coming year is going to be worse that usual.
Someone proposes a meal of thanksgiving for the blessing of the past year we have received. Lets have a feast this fall, and invite the neighbors.
I raise my hand and say, “that sounds like a good idea, but let’s do it in the spring with what is left over.”
They ignore me and then I have a deeper understanding of God.
Yes, Rush was doing a service to the previously un-educated unwashed masses (who still are uneducated on this topic thanks to their “education” propaganda).
Definitely not needed by descendants who can recite the history. Rush always prefaced the reading by describing the then current whining and moaning and misrepresentation of the actual history in our country. Said whining and moaning in this article from 2021.
In our family it is re-written Revolutionary War history, followed by the wholly avoidable civil war conducted by Revolutionary descendants (more on one side than the other) who worked for two generations to reconcile the new politics, and also serve in two World Wars.
The recent pbs release of a joke of a narrative on our Revolution is based on the moronic Leftist/Communist Howard Zinn (and of course constant reference to the quite false 1619 Project of the NY Slimes). As you say, those who came before lived this, and relayed it to descendants— but these clowns keep trying to re-write their drivel.

Several narrated stories from the French & Indian war on you-tub. One particular one comes from a lone survivor of Colonials under Col. William Crawford (the lone survivor escaped and made it all the way back to a long distant fort to tell the tale).
Crawford endured days of torture, burning, cuttings, scalping, and finally burned alive, testified by this survivor.
The tale is riveting and horrifying. Another history piece comes from the writing of Hank Messick (famous for his biography of Meyer Lansky, and many other organized crime history writing as a journalist.), born in Happy Valley, NC (site of Rev. War General Lenoir’s preserved home).
The book : “King’s Mountain: The Epic of the Blue Ridge Mountain Men in the American Revolution” describes the OverMountain Men, the winning of the battle of King’s Mountain by backwoodsmen, led by Sevier of TN— and the destruction of the entire command and commander of Brit Major Patrick Ferguson of the 71st Regiment of Foot. A truly gripping accurate historical rendering of the events before during and after. An All American battle that was for certain.
Here’s Rush Limbaugh telling the real story of Thanksgiving.

Thanks for those.
If reparations are charged for people in 2025 for the losses of people in the 1700’s-1860’s then should Elizabeth Warren be charged today for war crimes of her people?
That would be a real test as to the veracity of her fake as hell hoodoo of the “high cheekbones” (which btw the Cherokee Nation Eastern Band, rejected completely— she’s not a Cherokee, or any kind of American Indian. A fakir Socialist, whining harridan). Good one! Have wanted to ask her specific Cherokee lore she can or should be able to attest to— course she could not!
These people need to be told in no uncertain terms: if you do not like Thanksgiving or any of our holidays then don’t partake of them but you have no right to dictate my heritage or culture.
