From Columbus Day to Independence Day to Thanksgiving, the U.S. pretty much specializes in taking dates that celebrate genocide and discrimination, and repackaging them as family-friendly holidays. So each November, when Thanksgiving approaches, you may wonder exactly why Thanksgiving is bad.
Not only is Thanksgiving offensive to Indigenous people, but it glorifies colonialism, slavery, and even epidemics. Many Americans who celebrate Thanksgiving have no idea just how cruel the holiday’s origins are, while those who do may choose to either boycott the holiday, or just use it as an excuse to express general gratitude, gather with family, and eat comfort foods.

Big time!
My thoughts exactly!
Wife has a friend whose husband is a legit chief. She posts absolutely gorgeous photos of her Thanksgiving setup. How terrible to discount and attempt to forget a time of peace and cooperation between cultures.
Christmas decorations all over. Even manhattan Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving
People saying happy holiday season
I thanksgiving isbeing eliminated
Sophie is part of the hordes of brain washed girls who hate our country. The f’n rats filled the schools with anti american BS so they cultivate voters and it worked.
Some FReepers may still be here who remember Rush Limbaugh reading the account of the Plymouth Colony by its leader Bradford. He read the entire account of the Thanksgiving, and the Pilgrims were thanking the Natives, for having rescued them from sure starvation.
Incorporated in the reading by Rush (which may be available in recorded form) is the story of how intial socialistic agriculture and organization resulted in utter failure to provide for themselves, and the institution of private profit making gardens resulted in the saving of the colony— including using the techniques taught to them by the Natives. The could not have made it without that knowledge passed on.
This article— from 2021!!! is a Waste of “greenie” RED crapola about the woulda shoulda, coulda mentality of greenie morons who could not support themselves on their communes— well documented.
Find Rush’s reading of William Bradford (who is definitely NOT cited in this “green” matter pile of vegan dung.
Isn’t it amazing how there is no problem with the turd world colonizing all things white and Christian? I thought it was bad.
If I recall correctly the injuns who sold Manhattan island to the settlers didn’t even “own” the land and sold it from under another tribe.
The “indigenous people” were warring, enslaving, invading, and murdering each other long before Europeans showed up.
As to epidemics, sorry Indians did not have the antibodies
Tired of this peace love and Jimi Hendrix BS
To the victor goes the spoils.
We wanted it, we took it. We fought to keep it.
Its ours. Its been ours for over two hundred years.
No one has a “right” to this land. It was fought over and we won, simple as that.
It will continue to be ours until someone takes it away from us.
ENJOY Thanksgiving. Give thanks that our ancestors were strong enough to prevail. Worth celebrating.
“My response to her would be one word- “Tough’’.
Yup. The Indians had bad immigration laws
Thanksgiving is a national expression of gratitude to Our Creator for all the priceless blessing with which he has showered us so abundantly.
Completely agree!!
The “Native Americans” captured and used slaves.
One narrative I read was of a young white girl abducted from her family in a takeover of their farm.
She was made a slave and forced to do 10 hours a day of labor such as carrying heavy iron pots to cook, washing clothes and dishes and getting food and cutting and cooking it to serve to the tribal group.
She was ridiculed and used for amusement entertainment.
They forced her to walk alongside their wagons and horses, including months where she had lost one shoe and had to limp barefoot over rough ground on her bloody bare foot.
Years later she survived to write her memoir.
A Professor at my university wrote about beheadings and one research article I read was about a white man captured and tortured and then killed by the “Native Americans.”
They burned the top of his scalp off with hot coals. They held his feet against a flat shovel that had been heated by fire. They cut into his arms and pulled out his tendons one by one. Women of the tribe were tasked with keeping him alive and awake all night before the next day’s tortures.
After he finally died he was beheaded and his head was paraded around the cheering, excited crowd of the “Native Americans.”
Check out the short story “Lost Face” by Jack London.
I did not, nor do i, need Rush to tell of the original Plymouth experiences.
No doubt it was a great event, his reading.
My ancestors, one who was Edward Winslow, passed down the stories to his descendants.
Am heartily sick and tired of these banshees and narcissistic children looking for attention.
And BTW, the whole Plymouth experience had a political tint to it.
As for the first Thanksgiving. It was a gathering of both indian and settlers that lasted a few days and they ate largely what was gathered round about.
I’ll try it.
After dinner.
