Disney insults viewers again and learns nothing

I remember Star Wars. I had no idea what I’d be seeing that 1977 day in that common theater of the time. Popcorn and pop were affordable, as was admission, which was fortunate, because I saw the movie four times in quick succession with a variety of friends.

From the moment the Star Wars logo filled the screen, accompanied by John Williams’ main title fanfare, I, and countless others, were enthralled. We’d never seen anything like it, and while the special effects now seem a bit dated in comparison with contemporary computer-generated imagery, they still hold up well.

Like all epic literature, the movie began in medias res and followed the journey of a hero—Luke Skywalker—fighting against insurmountable odds, aided by supernatural forces, in this case “The Force.” Certainly, other decisions in the movies that followed were ill-advised, such as the eminently forgettable Jar Jar Binks. Even so, fans expected, and largely got, epic adventure, noble and admirable characters, ever-improving special effects and a few hours of solid entertainment. I didn’t succumb to Star Wars merchandise but looked forward to each new film.

Then the Disney Grooming Syndicate got ahold of the franchise.

They expanded into TV and streaming, and some offerings, like The Mandalorian were popular, but Disney drove the franchise into terminal wokeness and fired popular star Gina Carano over a mildly conservative social media post. She sued for wrongful termination and won a settlement from Disney in August of 2025.

Doubling down on stupid, Disney produced The Acolyte in 2024, and its creator quickly declared it the “gayest Star Wars yet,” which was only a warmup for the revelation that lesbian space witches created the Jedi.

My Mother used to do that with my brother and I in the 1960’s and we saw everything at least 4 times in one sitting.

Actually I agree with you, the rebellion had no concrete plan for anything. Where did their funding come from exactly???????????

Leia was the female version of Castro and Han was Che.

They live in a bubble.

Everyone in that bubble went to the same schools, lived in the same zip code and attended the same universities.

Their daddies and mommies got them jobs right out of college.

They never actually have lived in the real world.

Most of them have never so much as had a conversation with someone who has lived in the real world.

They had the Expanded Universe to play with.

Many thoughtful things written by serious authors who knew how to tell a story. They had the rights. And they tossed it.

Because they are children who think they can produce better stuff.

They honestly think they are the smartest people ever.

My movie power-experience was JAWS at the walk-in theater 1975, Kingsport, TN. I walked out onto the sidewalk still in a bit of a daze. Probably Spielberg’s most powerful movie.

Yes that a was great movie.

The audience jump scares were always a treat.

I rewatch it every few months.

I have read credible suggestions that the original plan for Jar-Jar was for him to be a secret Sith, and that portraying an imbecile was just a cover for him thwarting rebel plans. He turned out to be so unpopular that Lucas chickened out.

He (Jar-Jar) should have been the one to show up in multiple iterations, pickled in cloning vats at the close of "The Return of Skywalker."

Regards,

I agree that Jar Jar was supposed to be the Phantom Menace. There are many web sites and YT videos that demonstrate this.

Lucas chickened out because of criticism that Jar Jar was a throw-back to "Stepin Fetchit."

I’m still waiting for Disney to do a live-action re-boot of Tarzan where he’s a black man raised in the jungle by apes.

Those were the good old days.

Correct. It was a trendsetter when it came out. The whole idea that there was a super advanced civilization way before our civilization in some far off galaxy really set it off on a fascinating path...but then...the bean counters came in a pushed the concept to repetitive soap opera absurdity...

Changing male roles to female or gay roles isn’t brilkiant storytelling. Plus they dropped good stories doen and made it about woke lecturing the audiences, they admitted it. They hate white straight males, which ironically was their main audience. They abhor their main audience and are surprised when they didn’t support them. Same thing on a larger scale with modern women hating men. Men take the hint and leave them alone, live better, and now women are in a panic.

Yep. I don't watch new movies at all anymore. I go to Youtube and watch Critical Drinker roast them. It's much more entertaining!

Jaws made me scared of the water. Poltergeist taught me not to sit too close to the tv! LOL!
