The Toyota dealership is calling with cheap deals to try to get customers in to their service center.
A while back I went in for some dealer only work. Sat three hours waiting. Also they told me that I needed brakes.
Took it to the local guys I trust for some work and to do the brakes. They came out and said brakes were fine.
Asked me where I got the idea I needed brakes. When I said dealership they nodded and said it happens a lot.
The worst time to take a car to dealership is when it has just been bought out. Regular staff that know anything are heading for the hills or have been fired. The new techs and advisors get a cut of the action for recommending repairs. I had a warranty clutch repair performed under previous ownership. The new owner techs said I need to replace my clutch after about 8K miles. I declined that and drove the car for another 40K+ miles before trading it in.
