could cause "loss of power while driving,"

Mercedes - of all car companies - had this problem too. I had an elderly neighbor whose car lost power on an interstate highway and almost was killed in a wreck. Its scary how one software glitch can cause a car to literally shut down in the middle of driving.

Our daughter’s Escape would periodically do that. She pulled into an intersection and lost power. Mechanic gave some lame excuse about spark plugs. She didn’t keep that car long and bought a Subaru which she does not like because it’s always nagging her about this and that.

That kind of crap is probably more common than we think.

A few years ago someone I know had a practically brand new Ford Explorer.

In leaving the grocery store she started it, put it in drive and it immediately accelerated all on its own and slammed into a brick wall.

Steer by wire and throttle by wire is stupid and dangerous IMO.
