There’s no business quite like the U.S. arms business and no audience roars louder in approval than Saudi Arabia.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump is expected to close several deals with Saudi Arabia’s powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a visit that could see billions more in U.S. weapons flow to one of the world’s most prolific importers of military hardware. Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday that the U.S. will likely move forward with a deal to sell F-35 jets to Saudi Arabia.
The F-35, the crown jewel in Lockheed Martin’s portfolio, is among the most advanced fighter jets in the world and one of the most sought-after symbols of U.S. military might.

I’m not much of a fan of selling military equipment to a Muslim nation.
We’re getting $1 trillion in investments. It’s an America first deal.
It’s all weird.
I don’t think anyone expects Saudi Arabia to get into a war with anyone else. Not Iran. Not Iraq. Not anyone. The Saudis may sometimes have rocky relations with people, but it is a huge, rich country with many friends (rightly or wrongly). Starting a war with Saudi Arabia is ill-advised.
Nevertheless, the Saudis buy tons and tons of military equipment from the US. What for? If I had to guess, I’d say they’re just shoveling money at us because they want us to be their friend. I’m sure that military equipment really is shipped from here to there, but the really key part of all of this is the fact they ship money from there to here. It’s almost like a bribe.
Here’s hoping.
that is not a good idea. They can turn on a dime like a doberman and use our own tech against us. no thanks
It was a repulsive sight viewing that 9/11 Saudi prince grinning as he was welcomed to the White House. As for selling them F-35s be sure to get top dollar for them. It won’t enhance their air force because their pilots are crap. When the Saudis tried to bomb the Houthis in Yemen it was a joke. Their pilots would go no lower than 15,000 feet and they accomplished nothing.
Saudi Arabia is a better ally to America than the European NATO allies, who have bled America dry in trade for 80 years since WW II.
Sounds like a one-way deal. I haven’t heard any announcements that Saudi Arabia will only place their oil in US dollars.
Prince Sultan Air Base might be a bit important for the U.S.
It’s better than a Jihadi led Saudi Arabia
Somewhere there is a salesman getting a BIG COMMISSION check .
Saudis are not our friends. Remind me. Who piloted the hijacked planes on 9/11?
