UPDATE - They arrested a, ‘person of interest.’ Life is back to normal at the Taco Bell!
MADISON, WI - The Madison Police Department reported that a person of interest was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a targeted incident involving a man with a gunshot wound who entered a Taco Bell on the city’s west side late Sunday night.
The police department’s Violent Crime Unit and the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit executed a search warrant along the 700 block of Whitney Way related to this investigation. A suspect was taken into custody on a Department of Corrections hold at around 1:40 p.m.
Police stated Monday morning that the victim is expected to survive after being transported to a local hospital. They sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred at the fast-food restaurant located at Odana Road and Whitney Way. A News 3 Now photographer on the scene reported seeing multiple Madison Police patrol cars and fire department vehicles respond at around 10:06 p.m.
Police said they do not believe there is any danger to the public at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing.
The Madison Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit will be leading the investigation.
