President Donald Trump has approved a pardon for baseball legend Darryl Strawberry, according to a White House official.
Strawberry is a three-time World Series champion and eight-time MLB All-Star who “served time and paid back taxes after pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion,” the official said.
“Following his career, Mr. Strawberry found faith in Christianity and has been sober for over a decade — he has become active in ministry and started a recovery center which still operates today,” the White House official said.
Strawberry thanked the president in a post on Instagram.
“Thank you, President @realdonaldtrump for my full pardon and for finalizing this part of my life, allowing me to be truly free and clean from all of my past,” he wrote.

Strawberry is an all the great Met. He was home grown. I am glad Straw got his life together.
Maybe HE can be the mayor
Right on.
The pardon doesn’t dissolve his crime but it gives him a chance to be fully free in his life to what he does. There is a statement of his asking for Christ in his life and he has walked the talk with it.

I was in attendance when Daryl returned as a dodger. The place booed him vociferously. He politely nodded and smiled, stepped up to the plate. Ball one. The boos echoed down on him. Ball two. Still negative noise times ten. Here came a fat fastball down the middle. That famous looping swing- ball launched over right- centerfield wall for solo homer. The place went nuts! At the crack of the bat, 40,000 fickle fans went from booing to cheering! That’s baseball!
My baseball days are long over, but I've said here before, I have a family member who played for the Braves and then the Reds.
I have a baseball signed by ALL of the Cincinatti Reds. EXCEPT Pete Rose. He was an asshole back then, and I don't care if he gets in the Hall of Fame or not.
One cool thing about that time, my mom got to be pretty good friends with Johnny Bench. (Who DID sign my baseball.)
Strawberry got back into baseball the hard way. Watch the Saint of Second Chances on Netflix. It’s mainly about Bill Veeck’s son but has covers a time period when Strawberry was completely blackballed in any organized baseball organization. Strawberry got on with a rag tag independent team, befriended a legless second baseman and ended up back in the bigs.
Good for Strawberry. When I think of him I think of what might have been if he hadn’t derailed himself with substance abuse.
I heard Strawberry speak at Christian business conference. He was good. May 12 years ago.
I have no problem with this pardon..should have been done long ago.
