Not up to you,Erica.
Earthly justice is carried out by the earthly king or state.
Its she forgives him, but he still has to pay a suitable punishment for his crime of premeditated political assassination, especially in an open arena with thousands of people around.
public hanging would not be unreasonable.
It won’t be on your ledger, Ericka. He earned it.
“death penalty”? Justice. Innocent humans pay too much (money resources medical care psychologically etc.) for premeditated murderers. They negatively affect all of us and our young.
do not want this man’s blood on my ledger
Wouldn't be on hers.
Give him the death penalty, or a living death: Colorado Supermax aka ADX Florence - 23 hours a day in solitary confinement, one hour out a day to walk around a hole in the ground. No visitors, no phone calls, no talking, and a window looking to the outside that is only 4 inches wide.
“I do not want this man’s blood on my ledger when I stand before the Lord,”
She, nor anybody else should have to carry the weight of taking someone’s life. Especially one who is as devout a Christian that she is. I can absolutely appreciate that position. The removal of vermin from society is necessary act, constituted by the people of a representative republic.
Fortunately, we have people amongst us, who I believe have the the ability to take the weight from the people like Erika, to provide the justice and safety for us. These are the same type of people that can draw a weapon and neutralize a threat and sleep at night knowing that they have done a good thing.
And literally, God bless them and thank God for giving them to us. And God bless all those who run in, when we run out . . .
There are, unfortunately, a lot of moving parts here. For one thing, a swift and just application of the death penalty might well dissuade the next person from coming murder.
I guess I didn’t realize God was keeping a ledger, I better check my account.
I must be confused about Christs death and atonement then and why as a believer I’m free.
Erica say a silent prayer for Jim if you want, but don’t try to influence the judicial. The scumbag took a life and must pay with his.
This is likely one reason why one of Paul’s letters commanded women be silent in church.
Pass

I’m not convinced yet of Tyler Robinsons guilt. Some things suggest he might have been a patsy who was setup for this.
So electrocute him instead
I don’t know when or where this concept of forgiveness came up. It’s certainly not in the Bible. No one is obligated to offer forgiveness to any offending party unless that party offers a sincere apology first.
No worries, Erica.
I’ll take the hit.
John 19:10-11:
10 Pilate therefore said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?” 11 Jesus answered him, “You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above...”
Romans 13:1-9:
13 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of him who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain; he is the servant of God to execute his wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be subject, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due."
1 Peter 2:13-17:
13 Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to praise those who do right. 15 For it is God’s will that by doing right you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. 16 Live as free men, yet without using your freedom as a pretext for evil; but live as servants of God. 17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor."
