The suspect is Maeva R.

Swiss authorities have not released her full surname, citing privacy rules in the ongoing investigation, but local residents and the Vaud newspaper 24 heures confirmed her first name and initial to journalists on November 5.

Maeva is a French Polynesian (Tahitian) name that has become popular in metropolitan France over the last 30 years.

In 2024, Maeva was the 7th most-used baby name in French Polynesia and cracked the French mainland top-100 again for the first time since 2012.
