Typical Daily Mail yellow journalism...no explosion during takeoff...big engine fire yes, but no explosion until it crashed into the ground due to lack of thrust with a full load of cargo and fuel for the long trip to Hawaii.

Excellent point. For my understanding, UPS has a fairly good safety record. Their last fatal crash was in 2013, due to pilot fatigue. They’ve had other emergencies that resulted in the loss of an aircraft, but that was due to a fire in the cargo hold and as best as I can tell, all the aircraft landed at the airport in the pilots escaped before the plane burned.
