Flag lowered to half staff, what else does does the AP want.
I know I can look up the word "perfunctory", but is the word sarcastic?

"perfunctory" If Trump said anything beyond, "He was alive, but now he's dead." then he's being too generous.

Manners rarely exist simultaneously with sarcasm. I’m a fan of both. Just not in the same space and time.

No one has the right to force anyone to say something nice about someone they have good reason to dislike.

Hopefully President Trump will hold the line on this one. Cheney made a slanderous campaign commercial for the ‘24 election to promote Kamala and his daughter Lizzie. If you don’t have anything nice to say then just avoid the topic all together. When the press brings it up just say, ‘No comment. Next topic please.’

After the entire Cheney family went after Trump what really do they expect him to say??
To: DallasBiff
Trump WISELY made no comment about Cheney’s death on social media.

Everybody dies. The living are fair game for being railed against. When Cheney was alive he railed against Trump. It is to his credit that Trump says nothing at all about Dick Cheney. Let his legacy be to be forgotten.

Cheney lived up to his first name, “DICK”,
and I would add a few choice prefixes and / or suffixes to the name.
Voting for Harris proves that he was never a republican, and certainly never a conservative.
The damage to America by the Bush / Cheney team will last for generations.

Considering that Cheney said this about the President:
“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who was a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump”https://youtu.be/1_tc84MFWkg?t=142
I think we are seeing remarkable restraint from 47.

POTUS doesn’t want to be a hypocrite. and i am sure he remembers quite well how his generous gestures to the McCains, despite the historical political acrimony between the senator and the prez, resulted in their vitriol - after they accepted the plane, pomp&circumstance,of course.

I respect President Trump's silence on the matter given the Cheney family's attitude toward him. What I don't respect is the previously demonizing press now acting as though Cheney was their bff.

We may not realize it, but this is a rare, extraordinary bit of self-control for the President! I mean not to say something like: “One down, how many left to go?”
