Trump’s crack down on H1B visas is a pleasant surprise. As a retired IT guy, H1Bs and out sourcing cut off American workers at the knees. Ross Perot said that the great sucking sound you hear is jobs leaving America. Thank God Trump is reversing the great mistake of NAFTA.

H1-B is abused mostly by AMERICAN LARGE Corporations. Indians can’t initiate H1-B visa. It is ALWAYS intimated and applied by an American corporation. Indian workers are just the pawns in the H1-B visa game.

Are you listening President Trump?

Unfortunately, Trump has already backed down on requiring a $100k fee per year for H-1b visas - only a one time hiring fee of $100k.

“I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”

President Trump has yet to mention the NATIONAL SECURITY impact onshoring foreigners into the tech work has had.

classified projects are supposed to use Americans to do classified work.

as such, you must have a vibrant commercial sector to pull STEM workers needed for such projects.

since 2000, the number of Americans in the commercial sector has decreased...

and many times, foreigners are brought in when Americans cannot be found. (and yes, i’ve seen it)

Blame Congress and Clinton for this mess. They approved the H1B for the Y2K scare and let it grow.

100k is not enough. The entire program and its offshoots needs to be eliminated.

Britain sent their people to India to run things when they colonized it. India sends their people here to run things. Are we being colonized?

It also highlighted that the median salary of an H-1B visa holder in a computer-related job was $123,000, higher than the median salary of American workers.

Well that is as it should be... H1Bs should be getting paid more than the average in their industry as they should only really be filling the advanced, high-level jobs that are very difficult to fill, where the company is willing to pay that premium yet still can't hire an American.
