Hello, IBM - are you listening?
My take was always as long as accountants and lawyers can’t be outsourced the practice will continue.
Link to article is a red hot mess.
Indian coders.
“The US Department of Labour released a new video highlighting the misuse of H-1B visas and how the American dream was “stolen” from American citizens at the hands of foreign workers.”
I’m one of those Americans.
I could be wrong, but Project Firewall sounds like it may have some promise. It never made sense to me that we needed to hire outsiders for these high-paying jobs. However, some of the schools that teach the hi-tech stuff better get on the bandwagon. Even going down to grade school level through High school, some of the basic learning scores in the USA are just inviting other countries to teach properly & better prepare their students for the good jobs. This need not be happening.
The C-Suite laid almost all of us off and replaced us with H1-B visa holders and more outsourcing.
You can't fix the greedy stupidity of American management without massive shareholder lawsuits and criminal indictments.
Trump’s Dept of Labor video on the misuse of H-1B visas
<><>shows how the American dream was “stolen”
<><>taken from American citizens by “foreign workers.”
<><>includes mention of India,
<><>Indians account for over 70% of H-1B visa workers.
Trump’s crack down on H1B visas is a pleasant surprise. As a retired IT guy, H1Bs and out sourcing cut off American workers at the knees. Ross Perot said that the great sucking sound you hear is jobs leaving America. Thank God Trump is reversing the great mistake of NAFTA.
he dances around the fact the companies, foreign and domestic, PAID politicians to pass laws which allowed them to import cheap foreign labor
H1-B is abused mostly by AMERICAN LARGE Corporations. Indians can’t initiate H1-B visa. It is ALWAYS intimated and applied by an American corporation. Indian workers are just the pawns in the H1-B visa game.
Are you listening President Trump?
Unfortunately, Trump has already backed down on requiring a $100k fee per year for H-1b visas - only a one time hiring fee of $100k.
“I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”
—President Trump, March, 3, 2016
President Trump has yet to mention the NATIONAL SECURITY impact onshoring foreigners into the tech work has had.
classified projects are supposed to use Americans to do classified work.
as such, you must have a vibrant commercial sector to pull STEM workers needed for such projects.
since 2000, the number of Americans in the commercial sector has decreased...
and many times, foreigners are brought in when Americans cannot be found. (and yes, i’ve seen it)
spent 20 minutes trying to find the link to the video; finally had to use perplexity.ai to actually find the authoritative links ... pretty much all other search engines hid the link, no matter how i searched ...

It never made sense to me that we needed to hire visa
holders-—outsiders—— for high-paying trucking jobs.
According to data obtained by Breitbart News, wrt Federal Motor Carrier Safety Admin:
<><>FMCSA has decertified 1000’s of CDL holders
<><>FMCUSA discovered widespread irregularities in the testing process,
<><>rampant discrepancie emerged, particularly in states issuing CDLs to foreigners.
<><>foreign individuals failed to demonstrate a basic understanding of English —
<><>English is a legal requirement designed to protect Americans
<><>to ensure big rig drivers can read road signs,
<><>foreigners need to be able communicate with l/e,
<><>and employ safety precautions in emergencies.
CDL licensing fraud also raises questions of:
<><> US national security, border enforcement failures, and visa loopholes,
<><>fraudulent vetting has allowed 100’s of 1000’s of shady individuals to enter the country.
<><>some of them gained access to a most critical piece of US infrastructure — the trucking system.
<><>trucking is a soft target for those calculatedly exploiting weaknesses in the system.
Pritzker and Newsome hand out “vehicular hunting licenses” to any illegal that wants one.
These guys and corrupt DMV personnel are handing out “Real CDL licenses”
to money-hungry foreigners who cant read or understand US road signs.
One news report on a trucking company showed the cheat methodolgy:
<><>foreigners were fitted out with a Camera and an ear phone.
<><>The foreigner went into the DMV testing station
<><>his buddy sat in the car with a mic and lap top and eyed the camera.
<><>The foreigner being tested would be told what to answer.
<><>people got caught b/c those being tested were moving in weird ways
<><>so that the guy in the car could read the question.
Blame Congress and Clinton for this mess. They approved the H1B for the Y2K scare and let it grow.
100k is not enough. The entire program and its offshoots needs to be eliminated.
