Remember “The Odyssey” by Homer? The sorceress Circe turns the crew of Ulysses’ ship into pigs and then offers Ulysses the drink, as well. (Fortunately, he is fortified with an herb as an antidote.) There’s a famous, beautiful painting depicting the scene.
I think our dear Pete may be highlighting all of the pigs we have among us who were once men who made the choice to drink from Circe’s cup.
