Yep . I once owned a new ( played only by JD ) Sonor drum set that Sonor Canada supplied to Jack to use at the 2002 Montreal Jazz Festival . Had it shipped to Japan and kept it until we moved from the countryside - where I had my own drum house/studio next to the main house and played / kept all my drums & cymbals - to the city where I now have just a humble space on the 2nd floor to play my little 4 piece Yamaha set . Wish I hadn’t sold that set , but I could say that about many others that I have owned over the decades .
Very cool! Jack DeJohnette, truly one of the greats. To have a kit he played is an honor.
A similar story: Billy Joel played a Q&A Concert at Cornell University in 1996, for which a local music store supplied a Kurzweil PC88 concert performance piano/controller. Shortly after that I was looking to buy one for my own use, and was able to purchase that one "new" i.e. played only by BJ. It became a treasured piece in my musical inventory; I still have it and it's my main keyboard.
