Buy yourself a Fiat 500, it won’t crank so nobody can steal it.
One of the officer's I worked with at a prison here got disciplined for leaving his rifle in the rack in the cab of his truck by mistake. His truck was parked on State property, which is why he got caught. Everyone had to keep their vehicles locked in the prison parking. They used to send one of the brass to go out and check vehicles every so often.
ROFL!!
I agree - shopping malls are magnets for the Amish criminal element.
Anytime after dark and all bets are off.
Ah.... I’ve dealt with this many times.
What happened is you were “shark bumped”.
Sharks don’t just attack things. They interact with them first to see how they react.
Where I was (Connecticut) the routine was “hey! You got a cigarette I can hold?” Or “excuse me, c what time is it?” Or something of the nature.
What I did was immediate just pull my gun out. Trust me no one will call the police. I didn’t say a word. Hardly even looked at them with the kids I had a different thing though (because NEVER offend or scare Bebe’s kidz, that while neighborhood will come down on you like a rain storm) I would actually bust them up FIRST.
When approaching a group of black kids even wearing a suit with a brief case, I would jump scare them and yell “BOO CHECK!” They would laugh and immediately dismiss any further activity.
You see, they are gauging your potential response. Show fear, and they know they’ve got you.
So adults, I out-crazy them kids, I disarm them with humor. Believe me, hoo checks are funny as shit when an old crusty white boy does it to them
The 2nd amendment is there to protect you.
“I’m also getting a police detective involved.”
This is obvious, but: 1) know what you want out of the interaction before you start, and 2) cops will tend to be leary of entering anything that sounds like a racial profiling minefield. I recommend engaging first on recent crime trends, and the volume of car thefts/jackings/other crime at this property, and throughout the city. The detective will ask why you are interested, giving you the chance to let them pull the details of your teen encounter out of you. When you tell the police about being asked “are you just getting off work”, they’ll likely know what was up.
This probably would never happen, but it would be interesting for the police to review surveillance footage throughout this mall, and see if they recognize any local repeaters or patterns. Perhaps they could avert a theft spree before it gets going just by showing the flag. You might also want to talk to the mall manager — a property of this type likely has an on-site office. The manager should be very motivated to keep the site from getting a bad reputation.
Back in the day you’d just pull the rotor cap. I’m too old for that stuff nowadays. Anyway, I stay out of the hood.
Plenty of people are following that advice. Most malls I know of are either dead or dying.
Funny stuff. I’m too old to fight. After that experience I think I’ll be carrying full time. And spend more time at the range.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that there is a PD project already in work and one that I can contribute to. After this experience, I bet that whole area has already been a hot target for thieves and for PD involvement. These kids gave off a vibe like they felt like they owned the place....and that is very unnerving. And another thing...the only white people that I saw were inside the restaurant. All of the people floating around the outside walk areas were amish punks. Every one of them. I estimate that I observed about 15 of them in the few minutes that I walked to and from the restaurant.
Rlmorel, You make some really good posts.
Mama taught me that at an early age.
The South is absolutely the home of "Ma'am" and "Sir." Never been there?
This didn’t make much sense but no need to insult him.
Put job applications on the windshield
"They just cut the steering wheel."

I was just returning his insult ... insult for insult. He didn’t take is well, and sent me a PM telling me as much.
