EV’s will fade into the past as an utterly failed trend. Nothing about EV is sustainable except the propaganda. The electricity costs more and pollutes more than fossil fuel, the EV’s become hazardous wastes, and are remarkable fire hazards in the interim.
You may be correct but it won't be the first time a new EV tech blossomed and died out. Current generation battery tech has proven to be an advancement over lead acid and NiCads which themselves were advancements over the old Edison batteries that powered EVs circa 1900.
Some new storage tech will come along offering very high power-to-weight and fast charging. This future storage tech will force a new generation of EVs that may supplant IC technology as king of the road.

Some of the first cars around 1900 were electric. They have been waiting on the battery technology to change for a loooooong time. It is still not there.
All they need to do now is figure out how to make the batteries cheaper, lighter, safer & recharge completely in 15 minutes or so on 120 volts.
