I was a supporter of the death penalty until that young woman in North Carolina (I think) decided to commit suicide and take her two children with her. Supposedly she backed out at the last minute so she let her car, with the children still inside, roll into a lake.
She admitted the whole thing yet she was not given the death penalty. At that point I decided if women get to murder anybody they want, including their children, and not get the death penalty , then men shouldn't either.
I think you are recalling Susan Smith. I recall watching her tearful plea for her children to be returned to her. My wife and I looked at each other at the same moment and said, “She did it.” And she did.
