What sort of power plant is required for the laser? Lots of 12v car batteries wired in series might be too heavy. So small nuclear reactors it is.

Kilowatts for enough energy to cause material damage.

The last airborne laser to try this was housed in a 747 with four big engines to generate the power needed.
