Nobody bitched about Truman gutting the entire interior of the white house, leaving it just a shell, an then rebuilding the whole inside from scratch. Nobody bitched when they created the East and West wings in the 20th century. Nobody bitched about Jack Kennedy redoing everything, in fact she gets praise. Et Cetera.

That said, I will admit that Trump's taste in decor is not mine, I really don't like the look of the Oval Office now but hey, all I need to do is get elected President and I can do what I want to it instead.

Same here. I love the man, but I'm not a fan of his taste. The Oval Office has too much bling these days. A bit overdone with the gilded additions on the walls. He supposedly said they're 24 carat gold. I like gilded frames, mirrors, and medallions in the right setting.
