Depp may make a good Scrooge, but IMHO, the best was Patrick Stewart in the 1999 UK version.

I can’t see him being better than Alastair Sim.

I liked Michael Caine in The Muppets Christmas Carol.

A fool’s errand.
Nothing will ever top “A Christmas Carol” 1999 with Patrick Stewart.
In fine company with The Godfather 1&2, Apocalypse Now, Citizen Kane, and It’s a Wonderful Life.
When perfection has been achieved, find something else to do.

In a plot twist, The Ghost of Christmas Future takes a dump on Scrooge’s bed.

Alistair Sims for me will be the first and only Scrooge. I also liked George C. Scott in the role. Patrick Stewart was great in "The Canterville Ghost."

I’m fully with you. Scott was born to play Scrooge.

Johnny Depp would be a creepy Scrooge.
Alastair Sim from the 1951 is the best film version.
If you do not agree then may 3 ghosts pay you a visit.

I see what you did there! Nice work!

Loved the Sim version. But I really respect George C. Scott’s portrayal. It was powerful as all get out.
“Tell me. Spirit! That I may sponge the writing from this stone!” Just wow...

I’ll give Depp a look but he has some big weskits to fill.
