Depp may make a good Scrooge, but IMHO, the best was Patrick Stewart in the 1999 UK version.
I can’t see him being better than Alastair Sim.
A fool’s errand.
Nothing will ever top “A Christmas Carol” 1999 with Patrick Stewart.
In fine company with The Godfather 1&2, Apocalypse Now, Citizen Kane, and It’s a Wonderful Life.
When perfection has been achieved, find something else to do.
In a plot twist, The Ghost of Christmas Future takes a dump on Scrooge’s bed.
More studio endless recycling...
Johnny Depp would be a creepy Scrooge.
Alastair Sim from the 1951 is the best film version.
If you do not agree then may 3 ghosts pay you a visit.
Probably since he’s old it’s ok
Best was Patton
Amber Heard should play the Ghost of Despicable Past
Alastair Sim was the best Scrooge followed by George C Scott.
I cannot stand to watch anything with Patrick Stewart. His overacting is worse than William Shatner. His versions of “A Christmas Carol” and “Moby Dick” are terrible.
Reginald Owen for the win!
Scott and Sims - top two, no preference other than colorized Sims version is (as most colorized films) abomination.
Patrick ok, but just too over the top and a bit stilted.
I’ll look forward to Dafoe, hoping it doesn’t get too weird... Depp may be a pleasant surprise.
The key player, rarely mentioned, is how Marley’s Ghost is presented, imho.
“Been a long time since an actor assassinated a president.” I will never watch his work again. Not even old crap.
Instead of a kid needing a doctor to fix his leg, Tiny Tim will be a drugged up trans pufter.
Finally the are going to adapt this classic novel to the big screen!
Gee,because the first 12 tellings of A Christmas Carol weren’t enough?
Can’t wait to see than one!
