In fairness to Ricky O'Donnell, he still works for the same publication, but he list himself as "Basketball Editor" and in the description doesn't mention covering anything else. I don't know if it's cause and effect.
Jets ping
Probably should’ve put the correct date on it..regardless- the NY Jets will eventually sign all 5 QB’s selected in the 1st round of that draft...
Zach Wilson- check!
Justin Field-check!
Trey Lance (coming in 2026)
Mac Jones (coming in 2029 after they take a QB with the 1st pick of the 2026 draft that flops)
Trevor Lawrence (coming in 2040 when he’s pushing 40YO)..
It is NOT the quarterback.
It’s the Bears.
REF: Jay Cutler
If Tim Tebow was deemed not good enough to be in the league, Fields certainly isn't either.
“since Sid Luckman”
What was Harbaugh’s record with the Bears?

that’s a three year old article, why do you keep posting old articles and deliberately omitting the publication dates?
I would give Fields the benefit of the doubt in that (1) when he was in Chicago he did not have competent coaching and now (2) he went to the woebegone Jets who are a dumpster fire of a team. He may still prove to be a capable NFL QB given the right setting (e.g. Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield…).
As for the Bears I do remember a certain Jim McMahon back in the day and even Rex Chapman at QB managed to take them to a Super Bowl. So they haven’t been as bad as … Cleveland say.

After today, I may be more sold on Justin Fields - a QB who has still not found his proper setting (a la Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold) than Caleb Williams (Williams still does not have a strong enough supporting cast although he has much better coaching this season).
The Jets? The Browns?
