On the other hand, if he’s the sole “no” vote, then it’s not exactly consequential: nothing more than a protest vote at that point.
Now, the time he was the deciding “yes” vote on the committee that brought Biden’s debt ceiling increase bill to the Congressional floor? THAT was consequential.
Massie has made a career as a clownish side show in Congress. It makes no sense to spend an ounce of energy or a single dollar to mount a primary campaign against him.
Exactly.
No one votes against their party in that committee and he was a deciding vote
Rand has voted with the party when it came down to a deciding vote in the Senate
They do generally represent the party line 85% of the time
More so than others if you go by JBS liberty scores which I think are pretty good and expose the RINOs who vote for big spending
For example in the JBS scores you’ll see the likes of Lindsey Graham getting 30%! And McConnell and all the rest of the establishment crowd
In a sane world that is kick-them-out-of-the-party status. They’re Democrats in disguise: What is the difference? It’s a big club....
Meanwhile, Rand and Massie score 95+% on those JBS cards
So you see it’s an upside down world when people grumble about Rand or Massie. Why on earth are you not calling for Graham, McConnell, Cornyn, Collins, (endless list!!) to be thrown out of the GOP ?
This applies to many, many Freepers. I can’t possibly tag them all,.
Don’t forget their tacit support for everything LGBTQP - including NAMBLA types (the “P”).
I was once a libturdarian until I realized the party’s true goal is ensuring the election of dementiacrats in perpetuity since its inception circa 1982 - they are NOT the party Robert Heinlein and L. Neil Smith envisioned.
America has a perfectly good Constitution (Grundgesetz). I believe we need to follow it.
But first, get every illegal alien, criminalien, alien invader the hell out of our country and get the UN out of the US.
I believe Trump, Vance, Rubio will get this done.
Meanwhile, LP’s are for playing at 33-1/3 RPM, not listening to some overly thought out philosophy of Ayn Rand’s.
I do not support or endorse all that
There are millions who dont but consider themselves small L’ers
Trump incorporated much of it in his platform and even pardoned one of their heroes as the first thing he did in office (Ulbricht)
Making a legitimate criticism of Thomas Massie (or Rand Paul for that matter) is not an endorsement of Lindsay Graham or Mitch McConnell.
Also, the amount of complaints about Graham and McConnell on FR are likely an order of magnitude higher than those complaining about Massie, so I don’t know what you’re on about.
You miss the point though Massie and Paul supported Trump 100% against the LIES when he was in his first term..
And now he’s writing screed;s against them because they wont vote for his spending and in Massie he’s actively recruiting and wanting him out of Congress. Unheard of for a president to make it so personal in their own party against a sitting congressman.
Santos had a more conservative record than Massie does.
Depends who scores it. Not on JBS liberty scores
“Trump is sending things through the courts that will transcend his time in office.”
Not so much. The only thing that will truly transcend his administration is codification by the Legislative branch.
Ditto for his EOs, which can, and will, be rescinded on Day One of the next RAT POTUS. They’re effective for now (until a judge negates them), and good showmanship, but have to be made laws.
“You forget all the EO’s he has signed...dozens and dozens ...”
Seriously? You’re hanging your hat on EOs? They’re good for show, but:
Most are being rescinded by lib judges, and will be 100% worthless the day he leaves office.
A MAGA POTUS #48 probably will continue the ones judges haven’t shot down. A RAT POTUS #48 will rescind them.
well said. good fight. many so called republicans need to be ousted before thinking about the libertarians.
jmho.

When I read “Trump... supporting...
Fauci”, I concluded this isn’t a serious article. It implies that he supports Fauci now, when that isn’t true. He’s a different POTUS than in his first term.
And we know he didn’t support Fauci even then just by the look on his face when Fauci spoke.
One of the replies in the Twitter thread sums up the libber mindset perfectly

“Three libertarians in a dark room couldn’t agree on which kind of light to use to get out of the dark. They’d rather argue about it in the dark.”
It's a little difficult (and dangerous) to be aiming at the 300 meter target when there are rattlesnakes in your foxhole. If you don't prevail in the near battle, "the longer game," is entirely irrelevant.
Being 80 years old I have no “longer game”. I will just continue my “love to hate” on Paul and Massie. MAGA will not die when Trump is no longer president and I leave my earthly home to join the heavenly choir.
The party hasn’t made it part of their platform yet but they also refuse to condemn it, because they still debate the issue and refuse to vote on it as decades pass.
“”The fracas started with Mary J. Ruwart, the candidate with perhaps the deepest, purest libertarian roots (her rejection of government is so complete that some party moderates have begun warning of the anarchical dangers of “Ruwarchy”). In April, a rival called her out for her thoughts in a 1999 book called Short Answers to the Tough Questions. “Children who willingly participate in sexual acts have the right to make that decision as well, even if it’s distasteful to us personally,” Ruwart wrote. “When we outlaw child pornography, the prices paid for child performers rise, increasing the incentives for parents to use children against their will.”
Ruwart’s is a classic libertarian take — a defense of free will (even for “child performers”) and an attack on government prohibitions of any kind.
The party’s executive director, Shane Cory, saw the danger as well, and rushed out a press release titled, “Libertarians call for increased communication to combat child pornography.” Cory was attacked by hardliners who saw the release as an endorsement of increased federal prosecuting power. The party refused to vote on a resolution asking states to strongly enforce existing child porn laws. Cory resigned in protest, depriving a party in the midst of what may be its most promising election season of one of its most able organizers and fund raisers. But for many libertarian faithful, adherence to the most rigid of principles always trumps practical considerations about how those principles might be more broadly observed.
That rigidity has long been libertarianism’s greatest asset.””
A pragmatic vote IS a conservative vote. Dems rarely vote pragmatically... and the DNC rarely offers up a pragmatic candidate.
