We would see these on very cold mornings (around -40) in Northern Minnesota. We would see 2 what was called “Sun Dogs” on both sides of a rising sun. These might have rainbow colors or sometimes just solar yellow.
I’ve seen things like this at altitude ... beautiful especially flying at early evening.
