There was a time when three letters defined cool. M-T-V.
If you grew up anywhere between the neon ’80s and the streaming 2000s, MTV wasn’t just television, it was a lifestyle. It gave us Madonna before social media, Nirvana before YouTube, and Beyoncé before Instagram. It shaped music, fashion, and the very idea of youth culture.
Now, after more than forty years of rewiring global pop culture, MTV is beginning to power down some of its most iconic music channels around the world, and for millions of fans, it feels like saying goodbye to an old friend.

I want my MTV!
Weren’t they on Real World too?
Once Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert took over Dick Cavett’s time slot, music became a late night staple. Kind of an MTV forerunner.
And that band was Buggles.
Still can’t believe Trevor Horn, replace Jon Anderson in ‘Yes’, but I have to admit ‘Drama’ is a pretty good album, in spite of it.
My punk rock girlfriend and I only turned it on Sunday nights to watch “The Young Ones”. - yes we were young then. Portland, Oregon 1986 - 1989
Did you dress like Minnie Pearl?

LOL! Best pop band to ever come out of Norway.
What about those guys who did, “What Does The Fox Say?”
Minnie Pearl or you mean Stepping Fetchit like you?
So did Jimmy Kimmel.
had no clue MTV was still a thing. I stopped watching when they thought “Yo MTV Raps” wasnt enough Black Culture luring the white girls so they increased the air time. totally destroyed it.

I haven’t watched it for at least 30 years.
Gee and I've never even seen it. I've heard that song, but I couldn't have told you who the artist was if you paid me.
They haven’t been a music channel in decades.
That's John Waite.
This is Richard Marx.
Some of the best MTV was the Unplugged shows. Alice In Chains and Nirvana were fantastic imo.
Adam Curry was an old MTV VJ.
MTV played the AC/DC concert in St. Louis.
I recorded it. My brother put some stupid movie over it.
I lost “For those about to Rock”.
Yes. Not a Nirvana fan, but they were great unplugged. Loved AIC...and still do!
