Yes, totally.
Guessing here, but I think the Robert Redford deadpool was him, Claudia Cardinale and Jane Goodall, so Diane Keaton would start a new one.
Wow! I missed Claudia Cardinale. Once Upon a Time in the West is the only film I recall with her in it that I’ve seen. Unforgettable for me!
…Rest in peace, Diane Keaton! I hadn’t seen you in many films but FReeperdom puts you in good stead! You are gone too soon!
I also remember her from The Pink Panther (original).
In any event, may she rest in peace.
Isn’t that movie pro commie?
I think her casting was excellent. She was a WASPy type. Michael Coreleone was very different from the family. College...Dartmouth. Marine. War Hero. He wanted something different from what he grew up in initially. So it makes perfect sense he would find his gf/wife outside of his family’s world. It made the story much richer to have that pull and tension and finally conflict. If he had had a stereotypical American-Sicilian wife it wouldn’t have been as rich. Boring in fact. And after the attempt on his life and the killing of his new bride, it makes sense when he comes back to America that he reaches again to something outside of that world. Normalcy. But of course, he gets pulled back in...famous line in 3 of course.
The movie made a ton of money so, what can I say?
Darn. I wish the grim reaper hadn’t taken her. She was bright color in the world, a smile, a laugh, a lighthearted personality. These days everthing is so heavy and she gave me a happier outlook whenever whereever she appeared.
“At Diane Keaton’s memorial, Alice Cooper stood in silence before speaking softly:
“She didn’t play a part — she was the part.”
But it is Woody Allen who echoes my feelings:
“A few days ago the world was a place that included Diane Keaton. Now it’s a world that does not. Hence, it’s a drearier world,” he wrote. “Still, there are her movies. And her great laugh still echoes in my head.” ~ Woody Allen
It’s told from the POV of the American Left of the time. And it shows how their ideals were betrayed.
