EQUITY is not EQUALITY
ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL -
means we all start out the same.
EQUITY - means we all end up the same by government fiat.
That is Marxist Communism, not socialism.
I disagree with this assertion. We are created equal with respect to basic rights, but we are not equal in ability, opportunity or ambition. We differ in IQ, physical size, athletic capability and appearance. We differ in opportunity. Inner city kids aren't riding horses, hunting, fishing, surfing. Kids who grow up around an airfield have opportunities learn to fly. Kids who have access to networked computers have resources unavailable to those who don't. Ambition to succeed is a trained behavior. It needs to be encouraged nurtured. When there is lack of leadership and role models pointing down a successful path, other competing approaches fill the void.
Equity is handing a failed person the trappings of success that has not been earned. The trappings are soon exhausted and the failed person has no idea of how to earn more. It's a false award.
