LOS ANGELES -- A new actress is taking the spotlight in Hollywood, and it is sparking a debate among actors. That's because this actress isn't real. They're an AI called Tilly Norwood.
Actors are speaking out, responding to reports that multiple talent agencies are interested in signing the AI actress.
Tilly Norwood might seem like any other aspiring actress. She has an Instagram page showing off her screen tests, alongside candid moments.
She even posted a video on Facebook which she says features her first on-camera role.
But Tilly Norwood is not a real actress -- she's a character generated by artificial intelligence.
Her creator says she's getting very real attention.
Eline Van der Velden runs the AI talent company that made Tilly. She says, "When we first launched Tilly, people were like, 'What's that? And now we're going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her."
But that announcement is not sitting well with many Hollywood stars.
Emily Blunt said, "That is really, really scary. Come on, agencies. Don't do that."
Marvel star Simu Liu said, "Movies are great, but you know what would be better is if the characters in them weren't played by actual humans but by AI replicas approximating human emotion."
Whoopi Goldberg said, "You are suddenly up against something that's been generated with 5,000 other actors. It's been given all of these.. you know, it's got Bette Davis' attitude, it's got this one, it's got Humphrey Bogart's humor. So, it's a little bit of an unfair advantage."
Van der Velden insists Tilly "..is not a replacement for a human being, but a creative work -- a piece of art.. AI characters should be judged as part of their own genre, on their own merits, rather than compared directly with human actors."

I get it. It's creative. Technology was bound to advance. But she's still just a more modern version of Max Headroom.

ROTFLMAO Man, you and me both!
But... THE FINGERS! It’s always the fingers! And I’m pretty sure that one has fingers, but I can’t see very well. ;)

(I know...it was "Betty Grable"...but...)
I doubt if she is insufferable like most actresses. Doesn’t age, also much cheaper.
Can we see her titties? She’s just a robot anyway!

Oh...that didn't come out quite right...
Ah shoot! You really know how to stomp on a guy’s dreams.
When AI Satan starts making the rounds kids will take him seriously as well. AI is dangerous.
Does she sound like Mel Blanc? Or June Foray?
And no penis or nose ring. I’m cool with Tilly.
No, no. Think of it this way. You get Sean Penn the actor (and I do think he is a great actor) without Sean Penn the asshat, loudmouthed moron who knows nothing about the world but uses his prominence in media to tell the rest of us that which he does not understand. You separate the artistic performance from the individual, and viola.
I understand it is creating a conniption for SAG-AFTRA, etc., but it is happening, sooner or later. Maybe even a re-animated John Wayne.

Hahahahaha...I am completely entertained with Hollywood types getting their panties into a twist over this!
This is 98% ok.
Any number of regular people have ideas which I would much rather see than the tripe greenlit by the corrupt perv media industry.
With generated people they can produce without paying off these weasels, without me-too casting, without massive ego trips, and without armies of set, CGI, and other crew.
Hollywood in turn would have to produce something *better* to compete. They can; real people, real music scores, fine choreography and stellar graphics can be awesome.
What they won’t be able to do is release crappy bla-bla sequel XIV or woke remakes and pocket millions; nor drive leftism with media. Thus the crying.
There is of course the obvious downside but if everyone can do that it’s not profitable and won’t go far.

"John Wayne was a fag!"
I have absolutely no problem with AI actors and actresses. I’m a movie and TV fan, but of the CHARACTERS, rarely of the actors. So Spock, Kirk, Avon, Hutch, Napoleon Solo, Illya, Legolas - these are my only interests. If a human being doesn’t underlie the character, it’s irrelevant. The character is still there and giving me what I want, as a fan.
Besides, I can always fantasize about one of them playing the lead in my vampire goes to Hollywood movie script. Yummy!
How interesting, a white girl, and pretty at that.
I just did not expect that. Regardless, I kinda think people will be getting sick of AI in a few years. For the average person, it’s a fad that will wear off. For practical applications, it likely has untapped uses.
I am sure Hollywood main complaint is the character is white. It should be more diversity among AI characters! After all they will be replacing actors, so DEI should be maintain...
Hollywood deserves it. I prefer a well designed and played AI over a detestable adrenochrome consuming lefty activist flesh and blood loser.
I dont find her attractive at all.
I dont say that just to be oppositional.
Historically casting has had trends many of which are political in nature and are often so subtle that most dont recognize why its important and will jest about the likely eventual outcomes.
If this doesnt allow “movies” to become democratized by small creators I fear it will become an even stronger form of propaganda against the average unsuspecting viewer than present offerings from the big companies already are.
