The president of Florida A&M University on Saturday said the historically Black college ("HBCU") was taking “immediate steps to ensure accountability” after its band announcer commented on the weight of Alabama State University’s Honey Beez dancers.
During half-time of the game between the two schools, Florida A&M band announcer Joe Bullard called the dance team that performs with Alabama State’s Mighty Marching Hornets as “the new face of Ozempic,” HBCU Gameday reported.
Dr. Quinton Ross, the president of Alabama State University, called the remark “distasteful” and “short-sighted.”
“To have their artistry disrespected after such a performance is absolutely unacceptable,” Ross wrote.
“Honey Beez, please know that you are celebrated, valued, and admired for the joy that you bring to the Hornet Nation, and also for the bold and fearless way you represent the very best of ASU,” Ross wrote.
FAMU president Marva B. Johnson apologized for the remark in a statement.
“The Honey Beez represent discipline, school pride and their performance tradition is respected across the nation,” Johnson wrote.
“Such comments are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” she said of the band announcer’s remark.
He is, indeed.
I would hate to be at Wendy’s when all those babes were eating chili.
That’s okay...see, the AI seems to understand what is hot is not the dancing, overweight ladies, but an oval face, green eyes, shapely figure, and all the other things that go along with that.
Heck. So easy a Caveman could do it...who needs AI?
Hahahahaha that is hilarious!
Hey, I am also a normal woman. Don’t lay the “eye bleach” post on me. 😀
Having watched their performance, I’m actually surprised they aren’t thinner. That was a lot of activity, obviously well-rehearsed. It’s not like they aren’t getting plenty of exercise.
That... was funny.
Another hideous set of movements referred to as dance. Actually, the moves are not ugly, but the grimaces that are part of it are very off-putting to me. And, yes, I am well aware of the history as a war dance.
The comment clearly was not about their “artistry.”
It was about their proportions.
No one who puts themselves out there for applause is somehow innoculated from any comments they DON’T like.
I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords, provided they look like that.
Their outfits for their size could also be debateably unladylike. I tnink when large people wear tight clothes and they are performing in public, I think their looks are fair game. They can’t just expect only things they want to hear. Its not a safe space, its a public space.
Especially the tongues sticking out!
I understand. The Haka was always the weirdest part of an inter-island luau.
Bring on the Fire Dancer!
Fatties like this need to be called out. They are a burden on the tax payer and will raise children sans fathers (70% chance according to some studies) and spread their unhealthy fat ways loving on tax dollars.
That’s your right. Are you morbidly obese, too? Or just a retard?
Sorry. I meant to post that to kiyandil.
But he got it anyway and sent me “Vances With Wolves”.
Hubba Hubba! :-)
Who is that???
Looks just like my niece ... I’m sending that pic to her.
EEK!
Okay, okay, okay...we get it! ;-)
The image is a black and white portrait of actress Romy Schneider.
That was painful to watch.
I kept thinking one of them was going to pass out.
