I've noticed a lot of double and even triple posts in the last few days.
I'm wondering if there is an issue with Free Republic.
Thoughts?

If it is worth posting at all, it is often worth a double post.

You are a mean Freeper. Thankfully I was not having my last cup of coffee this AM.... :)
Same here, for some reason there is a latency issue. When you click post wait, it’s been taking 5-10 seconds for it to go through.
Not unique to Apple.
LOL I can’t even start to remember how many times I wrote PEBKAC as the problem/resolution on an IT support order over the years!
Another was BUOD (Bad User On Device)
It is not an IOS 26 issue.

Well then it must be FR’s internet service(server connection speed) or the server in general because I’m surfing the rest of the web just fine, including watching videos.
Plain html pages with no images, like the index page, should load in a flash. Latest Articles page is a whopping 33.7kb. The Perl script creating that page is another story. Server configuration as well. There are tons of things that can slow it down but a 33.7 kb page is not being held up by “the internet”. A 56 kbps modem from 25 years ago would handle it in less than a second.
btw: I observed a strange router performance a few years back. Probably still there.
I am sharing my dsl with a few tenants. We had bottlenecks at times. It came down to Apple devices, hogging the bandwidth. Only Apple. Not android or other liunx PCs.
The only answer was to throttle certain paths to limits them.

(and let me tell you, patience is a tough behavior modification for me. LOL)
What do you do if you have finger stutter?
FR has been a little slow for a few days - Central Kansas.
Tried some other sites, most load at normal speed, some are slower that normal. Backbone problem somewhere?
Anyway - Try it here, see if I get dupes.
Running FreeBSD 14.3, latest production release, with Firefox 142.0.1, Dell desktop.

As we humans are ~98% water, an employee of mine once coined the term “wetware”. Like — “It’s not the software or the hardware, the problem is in the wetware”.
>> We have other parties cloning us.
I pity da fool that would waste his time cloning me. ;-)
Count to ten before hitting post a second time

For one thing, avoid taking a job as a deaf sign language interpreter!
I believe it is possible to disable the post button until a response is received from the server (other functionality might also have to be disabled). If correct, this is a design issue. A slow response from the server is not the root cause.
