My great grandparents came from Ireland. My grandfather was Head Rigger at Ingalls shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi that built warships for WW2. Head rigger decides when ship is ready to sail.
He was ALLWAYS drinking beer, but shipyard owner said he did a better job drunk than anyone else could do sober.
Funny thing is, I HATE beer. Is there an Irish drinking song for Chardonnay?

I looked it up online and my friend here who worked in a shipyard years ago knew what a Head Rigger was.
I believe hem because I knew my grandfather and his sons, Jack and Jay, who worked in the shipyard too.
I’m sure he was as you say. Spent time on a ship in Mare Island naval shipyard back in the day; we had lots of riggers come on board to work.
Although they don't specifically mention Chardonnay, the singers of these tunes have Irish-sounding names, so they're probably Irish.
