I lived on Whitman when I was just a tyke when my dad was in SAC. I still have two vivid memories. One was when a fully fueled B47 crashed on take off. The explosion was deafening. Sadly the crew and several firefighters were killed.
The second was the Cuban Missile Crisis. The base went on alert. I never saw my dad move as fast as he did that day.

I suspect a lot has to do with all these UAP's that have been observed over the years.
