Violence Should Be the Line in the Sand
New American Prophet ^ | Sept 25, 2025 | Jerry Newcombe

If you have to resort to violence, you’ve lost the debate. The assassination of Charlie Kirk two weeks ago was a case in point. They couldn’t defeat him at debate, so they killed him.

Charlie’s slogan, as seen on the white tent he was in when he was shot, says it all, “Prove me wrong.” Anybody who may claim he was “proved wrong” by being shot subscribes to the view that might makes right.

I once read about an English tourist visiting China about a 100 years ago recounts how two laborers were having a heated argument in the street. After watching and listening for several minutes, the tourist remarked that he expected the two men would begin fighting any moment but his guide replied, “I doubt it, you see, the man who strikes first admits he’s lost the argument.”

Reformer Martin Luther said: “I will preach, speak, write the truth, but will force it on no one, for faith must be accepted willingly, and without compulsion.” Also, he said about those who light the wooden sticks to burn heretics at the stake: “If fire is the right cure for heresy, then the [stick]-burners are the most learned doctors on earth; no need we study anymore; he that has brute force on his side may burn his adversary at the stake.”

Should the officer have relinquished control of his weapon or respond in the manner in which he did?

Not to start a debate, but I don’t fully agree with you.

Rape is an act of violence.

While I brought out the rape victim blaming example to show off the left’s hipocrisy, I really don’t think the left owns that issue either. There are plenty of people who are not on the left who don’t think that “dressing like a streetwalker” (as you put it) is an excuse for violence.

Similarly, there were members of the leftist media last week who were saying that political “rhetoric” is an invitation to incite violence. Their message is ridiculous. There was nothing incindiary about Kirk’s message, except that crazy people disagreed with him saying it.

correction: There are plenty not on the left who think that how you dress is NOT an excuse for violence.

That’s right, as much as I hate to say it.

The Republicans are just not into the accountability thing. All they do is talk about it.
