‘I Forgive Him' - Erika Kirk on Husband Charlie's Killer
Newsweek ^ | Sep 21, 2025 | Hollie Silverman

Posted on 09/21/2025 5:11:32 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk who was assassinated earlier this month, told a crowd of thousands during a packed memorial in Glendale, Arizona, for her late husband that she has forgiven his shooter.

I forgive him," Kirk said through tears, adding after cheers rang out from the crowd, "I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it is what Charlie would do."

While talking about her late husband, she said part of his mission was to "save young men just like the one who took his life."

Forgiveness doesn’t mean the criminal gets away with the crime and avoids consequences.

It just means the criminal doesn’t live rent free in one’s head.

Yes! 🙌🙌🙌 I don’t think non Christians understand what forgiveness actually means. It doesn’t mean you are saying what they did wasn’t that bad or they shouldn’t receive justice. It just means you personally choose not to hate and be consumed by bitterness. The state still should prosecute and bring justice!

This. Who is it that gets manipulated into the darkness of the left the most? Who is it that is always seen right at the front of misguided and even evil causes for the left? The young women. Charlie's ministry has ended, Erika's is just beginning.

I believe that is so. Still, I hope another man or men will rise up in Charlie's place in this culture to also pick up the gauntlet and be an example and inspiration to young men--all men, really. Because of Charlie, young men in this country seem to be finally starting to get it, and the reality is that they need masculine role models to look to and emulate. The loss of Charlies is a great one in more terms than one.

🤦‍♀️. You do know that criminals are mostly let out in BLUE areas which are mostly Democrat which means atheists or so called progressive ( i.e. fake/ non Bible believing) Christians.
Where conservative Christians are in charge it is much more like to be law and order and NOT soft on crime. Personal forgiveness by Erika has absolutely nothing to do with the state pursuing justice to full extent of the law.

Romans 13
3For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer

Someone is misunderstanding that just because the victim forgives the criminal that justice should not still be meted out. Justice is as important as forgiveness.

The law of the land has to be followed

Tyler Robinson hasn't pleaded guilty nor has he apologized.

I don't see how he can be forgiven.

*** It just means the criminal doesn’t live rent free in one’s head***

That’s it exactly.

You don’t get to have dominion over me.

I will NOT be a victim.

I live with this reality daily. Real victims want to be “outta there”.

The fakes use victimhood as a crutch for responsibility.

Several of Charlie’s lieutenants who spoke at the memorial seemed very likely candidates to speak to young men at college rallies.

She was completely correct in her response in Christ, which was a very powerful witness and requires incredible grace.

I also believe Trump’s response - in as much as it relates to the right function of government - is also correct as chief executive of our government.

Romans 13

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

God bless you.

However “Nothing emboldens sin more than mercy’’.

President Trump nearly got his head blown off on live tv. Had it not been but for the grace of God, he turned his head when he did CNN and MSNBC would be playing that horror on an endless loop.

All through 2019 and 2020 the Democrats encouraged violence against conservatives and Kamala Harris and that fat slob Tim Walz cheered the mobs on.

Now Charlie Kirk is dead. This is not a ‘’one off’’ or mental illness. This is war. A civil war and true to form the Democrats are at it again.

Time to wise and settle accounts with these people once and for all.

She’s also better than me. I don’t forgive that vile creature.

I also don’t forgive the scum who celebrated Charlie’s assassination. I wish them the very worst.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us

Is a non-conditional statement.

I understand why she did.

I can also understand those who haven’t, yet.

Also please remember not everyone has the same idea of forgiveness. Some think it means no consequences, or justice, or forgetting and moving on like nothing happened, or like you can’t have righteous anger at what happened. Its not a full understanding of what forgiveness is.

It makes sense to me, but what also makes sense is that only the person who was directly wronged can give forgiveness and only after the wrongdoer repents and makes amends like you said. If I get raped, I don’t want anyone stepping up and forgiving the rapist to make themselves feel good. Likewise if I’m murdered. It seems like cheap Temu forgiveness to not have the two parties directly involved coming to an agreement. And since Charlie isn’t here, and never will be, and the brainwashed deviant isn’t indicating he’s sorry or willing to rectify things, I’ll leave this to God. And hopefully Utah will do the right thing and make that meeting happen sooner rather than later.
