DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- New details are emerging in the case of the man who is accused of raping a woman who has developmental disabilities. Sixty-nine-year-old Anthony Alcorn has been charged with multiple felonies. Alcorn has pleaded not guilty to all counts and is innocent until proven guilty. Dayton 24/7 Now spoke to the man, Travis Underwood, who was a witness to the alleged crime.

The court documents said that Alcorn was working for Graceworks when he pulled over while driving a company van and sexually assaulted an assisted living patient in an East Dayton alley.

Underwood said he spoke with police, and he gave Dayton 24/7 Now video of the incident.

He said his friend was the one who called 911.

Underwood said it started because his dog ran away, so he left his gate that opens up to the alley open, hoping his dog would come back home. When he saw it closed, he felt like something was off. That is when he saw a blue van through the gate. He said he opened it and saw a blue van. and asked, "What are ya'll doin' here," and no one answered. That is when he walked to the back of the van and said he saw someone being sexually assaulted.

"I couldn't believe my eyes, so first thing I could think to do was pull my camera out and record so I could get dude in the act," said Underwood.

He said he recorded what was happening because he knows how serious sexual assault is, and he did not want there to be no proof of what he was witnessing.

What is wrong with this?

“I couldn’t believe my eyes, so first thing I could think to do was pull my camera out and record so I could get dude in the act,” said Underwood

Nothing is wrong.

He recorded the evidence that will send the man away for the rest of his life. Or else the old dude would have just said “I was just changing her diaper”. This man is very smart to do what he did, I’ve seen the whole video.

That van should have had cameras all up in it to begin with like school buses do.

The witness got his camera out in order to get evidence knowing the rapist would either run off or deny any crimes. He was a brave gentleman for doing that. He saw she was being assaulted, but she was not being murdered, so filming was appropriate. Reporter didn’t need to print his full name though.

Yeah, I’ll just film a rapist instead of maybe helping. Real brave.

Juries often do not believe eye witnesses.

They are partly right and partly wrong in this as in everything.

I think my first move would have been to pull out my hole puncher and order the dude to stop or be stopped but I carry and a lot of people do not.

Thank-you!

I'm just tired of seeing videos of crimes with no one lifting a finger. The below horror has me finished with seeing "brave" people filming crimes:

Perhaps he was not entirely sure that this was a sexual assault? I don’t fault the witness. At least he did something.

I understand your point and I agree with it.

However a lot of people's first reaction is to turn around and walk away. And their instincts are not entirely wrong, getting involved will cost you. In some cases will cost you everything.

Having said that, I don't think you can be consider yourself an adult human unless you are willing to put aside that part of you that weak and cowardly and do something.

So the guy gets a half star for doing something, if only recording what was happening. A three quarters of a star if he also called the police.

Most people, even in the US, do not leave their home armed and ready for trouble. We mostly feel safe and that crime is something that is far away. Which it is. Until it isn't.

Everything was right there...knock out rapist, drive over him headed to hospital with victim. No, camera not a worthwhile option.

Witness Justice.

Have you ever actually knocked someone out on purpose?

KO’ing someone isn’t as easy as the movies or TV make it look. I always get irritated when people get choked out in movies and declared deceased after ten seconds, because it takes a hell of a lot longer. More like ten minutes of depriving the brain of oxygen, which means ten minutes of consistent pressure constricting blood flow and the esophagus.

Besides, you don’t know if the guy is armed or has some other weapon, and you have no clue if you’ll be arrested yourself for assault when the cops do show up.

Having read the rest of the story and done a bit more digging I wish to chance my answer.

The guy, gathered evidence, stopped the attack, called the police and held the guy there.

Don't see what he could have done much better with the tools that he had.

Five stars.

I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. A person can survive their breathing being cut off for a number of minutes, but cutting off blood flow to the brain, which some chokeholds can do, WILL kill a person in much less than a minute. They'll be unconscious in roughly 7 seconds.
