Bemeers are design to last 30,000 miles...then just fall apart.
First they start bleeding...................
Maybe 60,000, but that's a problem. Quality has noticeably gone downhill over the past 10 years.
No, they are designed to create a long term money stream for their PARTS & SERVICE departments.
Which they get a large portion of the repairs.
I think they decided to follow the example of Mercedes. Another luxury auto brand that is very expensive to repair and maintain.
Which is why I just bought a 2011 Lexus IS350C. It is a naturally aspirated V6 that was MADE IN JAPAN. I am the second owner. It came from Florida. Where it was maintained exclusively by the Lexus dealership that sold it.
Well, that’s only about $33/mile. Not bad, if you’re into wasting money.
The basic warranty is for 4 years or 50K miles or what ever comes first.
That has not been my experience. My 2003 BMW 325xi has 227,700+ miles on it (I am the original and only owner). The engine and transmission both still run like a dream. Have I had to put money into it? Sure, but it's still the best driving car I've ever driven. Over the years, I have replaced many parts, but one of the nice things about the old BMW's, is that you can still do a lot of work on them yourself, if you've got some tools and a little determination.
