...but not certainty.I'm still unconvinced that body snatchers have not invaded and snatched half the US electorate and that the movie's not a documentary.
Also I3 is traveling at 60km per second [ 256,000 mph ] which had it been a Ort or Kuiper object would have long ago exited our solar system.
Is it from Klandathu? Stay out of Buenos Aires.
People want to believe in aliens but come on.
Of course!! So obvious.
No. It is simply moving too fast for one of those objects to have been nudged sunward. Perhaps the chunk of a planet blown apart from a supernova long ago.
Not quite. It will be at the closest it will get to the Sun on October 3. Just a little bit closer than the Orbit of Mars. Nowhere near Venus.
Oh man..... not more effen democrats.
It is not from around here. We have no idea what is usual and what is unusual in objects from other solar systems. We don't really know all that much about asteroids or comets from our own Oort cloud. By definition this new object is "unusual".
If we get off our ass and send a probe to catch one of these visitors for a closeup look we will certainly find all manner of surprises. What I very much doubt we will find is that they are manufactured objects of any kind.
The alien craft are hanging out in the mid-Atlantic mining gold from seawater, or cruising over New Mexico abducting hapless travelers from the interstate highway system and extracting samples of their precious body fluids using uncomfortable and undignified probes.
I consider that story far more likely than the one where 3I/ATLAS is an advanced alien spacecraft.
…And that WAS on July 1st…
It’s SPACEBALLS!
It’s SPACEBALLS- anybody seen Mel Brooks lately?
It’s not coming in on the ecliptic plane like all the other planets, asteroids, comets and things in the Solar System.
