The assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is sending shock waves through Capitol Hill, with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle expressing fears for their own safety and taking greater security precautions following a summer of political violence.
Members are beefing up their security, moving public events indoors or canceling them altogether. One is even vowing to carry firearms.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., the progressive star who has faced numerous death threats over the years, said Thursday she had postponed two public events planned for this weekend in North Carolina, including a rally in Raleigh set for Sunday.

The democrats have to worry about the stray dog righty but republicans and conservatives are going to be seeing an increase in violence from the left because it is becoming a part of the DNA of their fringe groups, some democrats and lefties are becoming more open in their discussions of preemptive and “defensive” “actions” against individuals, and arming and training started becoming a thing, years ago for the left, not as a local militia of yahoos to protect the local neighborhood, but as small, nationally acting, direct action groups.
For years we have seen the campus shout downs, the riots, the burning cities, and then the showing up at home addresses and then the entering of restaurants, and the growth of the militant, organized violence groups with training, the anti 1% WTO groups, the black clad anarchists, antifa.
I bet the Deep Staters are concerned, too.
But the threat won’t be coming from patriots, will it.
