This feels a lot different.
See, the Trump assassination attempt was still within the Overton Window. We're used to Presidential assassination attempts.
This was the assassination of someone who spoke -- respectfully -- on college campuses. This was an assassination to prevent someone from exercising his First Amendment right, and to try to intimidate others into silence.
This, to me, has a paradigm shift similar to the one we experienced on 9/11/2001.
We’re used to Presidential assassination attempts.
The MSM can’t ignore Presidential assassination attempts.
There are plenty of assassination attempts and realities of lesser political activists. They don’t get the publicity.
Often they are grassroots activists who piss off the local establishment. They are not the talking heads in the media.

You are an astute historian, and exactly right.
See my post #250 this thread.
The shift, to me, shows leftists are now engaging in targets of opportunity.
Maybe that is because major targets like politicians are harder to get to or maybe because leftist rage has reached a level where they cannot wait for a major target to appear; they need an immediate release for their anger and settle on anything in their immediate surroundings.
I think the public has sensed this danger. It is only a short step from shooting a political speaker to shooting the crowd itself.
It is terrorism... and anybody can be a target.
