Oliver North and his loyal former secretary Fawn Hall reportedly married in secret last month — 40 years after their leading roles in the infamous Iran-Contra affair.
A copy of the couple’s marriage license, obtained by journalist Michael Isikoff, shows North, 81, and Hall, 65, were married in Arlington County, Virginia, on Aug. 27.
“It was a secret marriage,” a friend of the newlyweds told Isikoff.
North, a retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, was a member of President Ronald Reagan’s National Security Council (NSC) when, in the late 1980s, he was accused of facilitating illegal weapons sales to Iran.
The scheme was aimed at encouraging Iran-backed militants in Lebanon to release American hostages, while proceeds from the arms sales were diverted to support the Contra rebels in Nicaragua — which was prohibited under the Boland Amendment.
Hall, North’s glamorous secretary at the NSC, was granted immunity by prosecutors investigating the case as she revealed that she destroyed, altered and hid evidence implicating North and others in illegal activity.
The former secretary revealed that she helped North shred mountains of documents related to Iran-Contra after the Justice Department caught wind of the weapons scheme.
Hall also told investigators that in 1986, when North was fired over the scandal, she smuggled Iran-Contra documents that had not yet been shredded or altered out of the Old Executive Office Building (now the Eisenhower Executive Office Building) — hiding them in her boots and inside the back of her skirt.
North was convicted of three felony charges related to Iran-Contra in 1989.
His convictions were overturned on appeal in 1991, and the case against him was dropped after it was determined that prosecutors used testimony he provided to Congress under immunity in the case.

They’ve likely been together for a loooong time. This allows for easier transfer of assets when he dies.
At 81…it must be on his mind.
Fawn Hall was once fined $10 for eating a banana in a DC Metro station. Some People would pay big money to see that...
Ollie sold munitions to the same people that blew a bunch of Marines up in Beirut...
Don’t shoot the messenger it was talked about in military circles back in the early 90’s
??according to article Hall came to wife’s funeral which is where they reconnected after decades. she was married to another who died in 2005.
...who apparently introduced her to crack cocaine.
We berthed next to Ollie one night on the C&D canal in engineers cove. he was on his navy 44. The boat’s name was “Confrontation.”
There’s a surf break in Costa Rica near the Nicaraguan border named after him called “Ollie’s Point”.
As I recall, in 1987 the Democrats in Congress had a televised hearing hoping to get some political benefit out of bashing him, but instead he came across to the public as an American hero.
Well, people will gossip about a man marrying his secretary.
Even if they had not worked together in many years, people are still gossiping. Even though they were both married to others, people still gossip.
I had such a thing for her back in the day.
I remember that scandal. To the news media it was all about the Iran-Contra problems.
BUT When the news media saw Fawn Hall, she definitely was a hottie, they forgot about Iran-Contra and went looking for a sexual scandal.
Fawn
Great! Obviously, I didn’t read the article.
My wife died last year. I recently reconnected to a girl I knew in college. I never cheated or did anything suspicious.
Its not unusual.
THEY EACH LOST LONG TIME PARTNERS.
LET THEM ENJOY WHAT TIME THEY HAVE LEFT.
The Boland Amendment was created between 1982 and 1986, specifically to block Reagan's desire to fund the Contras fight against the Marxist Sandinistas....
It should also be noted that my very own Congressman, (a Marxist prick), was a vocal opponent of any aid to the Contras and strongly supported the Amendment.
They have used the same playbook against Bush (the Jack Wilson/Valerie Plame affair) and the bogus Russian collusion investigation with President Trump, and the subsequent impeachment attempts.
I’m sorry for your loss, but happy for your rekindled relationship.
Your first sentence made me howl with laughter. I had ridden many a metro train back in the pre and post Fawn Hall 1980s.
I recall the summer of 1987 where myself and 2 friends would watch the hearings in a dorm room before heading off to the cafeteria for dinner.
I wish them well and hope they have a quiverful.
