Jury convicts Florida matriarch in murder-for-hire killing of her former son-in-law

Tallahassee, Florida (AP) — The matriarch of a wealthy South Florida family was convicted Thursday of murder in the killing of her former son-in-law, a prominent law professor who was locked in a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife when he was gunned down in 2014.

For the Florida FReepers this verdict is now the FIFTH conviction in the Adelson Family Conspiracy to murder Dan Markel in 2014.

Based on the quick verdict by the jury against Donna Adelson, Wendi Adelson (divorced wife of Dan Markel) will be the next Adelson to be indicted.

That was very limited immunity-—anything said by Wendi at the trial could not be used against her.

The Prosecutors and Investigators have lots of other information on Wendi that was not discussed at Donna’s trial.

And after the verdict, Phil Markel (Dan Markel’s father) said in his victim impact statement: “It is a Jewish tradition to wish a person to live to be 120 years. I now wish Donna Adelson will live to be 120 years old so she can spend the time in her lonely cell reflecting on the evil she has done.”

I'm not in Florida, but have found myself sucked into this saga. I watched much of Donna's trial. How sweet it was to see Donna shaking and crying while Judge Everett uttered the word "guilty" three times. Hopefully, Wendi is next. (Oh, and I think I might be in love with prosecutor Georgia Cappleman. 😁)
