R.E.M. used to rehearse in a building across the street from my nephew's frat house at UGA.
I've seen them twice, once in Athens, once in Statesboro.
Some friends in a band at UNC (Northern Colorado, NOT North Carolina) did a good cover of this song.

Before Stipe came up with the lyrics to ITEOTWAWKI in under an hour, Buck picked up a mandolin and came up with the riff in five minutes.

The year prior (1986) Europe’s song; The Final Countdown, got reduced to a commercial featuring a frozen burrito being cooked in an office microwave.
Have no idea of the product of the commercial.

Cocteau Twins lyrics are the true mystery.
That no one really cares about probably.

In the meme, Homer Simpson claims he can sing all the lyrics to "It's the End of the World as We Know It," only to be told, "No you can't, Mr. Simpson. No one can."Stipe shared the image with a two-word reply: " I can."
No one can sing the lyrics to Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter.

I’m not a big R.E.M. fan...but I never had a problem hearing or understanding the lyrics.

In contrast to End of the World song by Miley Cyrus.
For the leftwing dingbats (like Cyrus) it’s the end of the world because Donald Trump has been elected POTUS.
And I FEEL FINE!

For years I misunderstood the chorus to “The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite”, from my car radio, anyway.
I thought Stipe was singing “Calling Jamaica......calling Jamaica.....” When in fact, it is “Call me when you try to wake her up.....”

I liked REM a lot more when I didn’t understand the lyrics.
Love “Driver 8”.
