My guess is the homeowner shooter was aroused from sleep, went into protective/defensive mode and was ready to shoot anybody who carelessly aroused him....what kid goes around at 11pm with his friends teasing/scaring resting/sleeping strangers ?
I will never know. Nowadays one cannot chalk up disruptive behaviour in boys as harmless pranks.
There is an argument for “diminished capacity” as shooter may not have been quite awake or had a few brews in his own home. And we won’t know if the boys taunted the shooter.
Either way, a total mess. Rule of thumb... don’t startle a black Labrador Retriever, it may be a Cane Corso.
