It's happened before. Had an interview with a high-end yacht builder many years ago. A couple of days before the first interview, they called and apologized but had to postpone our meeting for a few weeks. Turns out, they had delivered a yacht to a very wealthy, elderly woman and she had her crew take her on the maiden voyage to Italy where her order of custom marble floors, marble counters and a nice big marble tub with gold fixtures was waiting for installation. After the installation, they set the 90 ft yacht back in the water and she promptly began rolling over. Fortunately, still in the sling, they were able to save the boat and lift it back out. The engineers and designers I was scheduled to interview with had been sent to Italy to successfully resolve her new ballast issues.
Maybe the Turkish builders used MDF sheets for bulkheads to cut costs, instead of some light Finnish plywood that might have been spec’d.
