A luxury yacht worth nearly $1 million plunged into the waters off the shore of Turkey just 15 minutes after its maiden voyage as panicked passengers and crew jumped overboard.
Dramatic amateur video shows the vessel, named Dolce Vento, ease into the waters off the coast of Zonguldak in northern Turkey’s Eregli district Tuesday before lurching to one side and slowly sinking into the depths.
It was the first time the approximately 85-foot boat, worth around $940,000, was launched after being delivered to its owner from Istanbul.
The owner, captain and two crew members jumped overboard and safely swam to shore without injury, and the Coast Guard and port teams responded to set up a security perimeter around the flailing watercraft.
Officials at the shipyard said the cause of the sinking was under investigation, and that technical inspections of the yacht will be carried out to determine what happened.

My first reaction, as a Democrat he’d have someone thrown in jail or worse. As it was they did an investigation, blamed it all on the deceased Hybertsson. If you’re ever in the vicinity it’s worth seeing.
One of my first jobs out of college was a drafter for a marine architect. During the tech bubble late 90s every tech bro was showing off and commissioning the fanciest yachts to compete with the other tech bro. There was one yacht builder that called my boss and said he needed to redesign the entire propulsion system because the boat was so overloaded with stonework, marble, woodwork, furniture, and decorations the boat couldn’t move out of its own way. He took a trip to the yard and said this boat will not float let alone sail anywhere. Even with a new propulsion set up. They ignored him, he designed a new propulsion system, sold it to them, got his cut, told the builder the boat will sink because it is just way too heavy. The tech bro didn’t care and when they launched it out of dry dock, the boat hit some chop, split in two, and sank .

Dang hate when they forget the ballast. What was all the bubbling when the boat first entered the water?
GILLIGAN!!
Ya ever wonder why Turkish Muslim engineering and labor is so “affordable”?
