I am a fair weather college football fan, but that is not how it works. Coaches sign long term contracts with college football teams. There are various monetary targets embedded in the contract. It is heck of lot easier to fire a coach in the fourth year of a five year contract than the first year. NCU is stuck with him for 3 to five years..

Enough to establish 4 mega conferences that will play each other, probably in the neighborhood of 64-80 programs.
The Big 10 and SEC will be at the top, along with probably the Big 12, and whatever conference can organize the rest.
I could see another level college football forming that doesn’t go for what’s going on right now but still wants to complete in football.

UConn will be playing The Fruit (aka Syracuse) this weekend. UConn will be playing Syracuse, Duke and Boston College this season and we might win 1 of them.
