Weird story. 3 PA sheriff's officers were killed in an ambush with 1 or 2 others in critical condition.

"A woman he had briefly dated lived there. Her mother called police late Tuesday after she spotted a man wearing camouflage looking into the home with binoculars.
Officers also spoke with the daughter, who had a photo from a trail camera showing someone carrying a rifle outside and aiming a scope at the house, according to a police affidavit."

"The violence erupted Wednesday afternoon as officers sought Ruth, who they believed had been at the property the night before.
Ruth eluded police that night, leading them to return the next day with misdemeanor warrants for his arrest."
Officers noticed the door was unlocked and then...
"They opened the door and were immediately fired upon by the suspect, 24-year-old Matthew James Ruth, who was carrying an AR-style rifle with a suppressor, York County District Attorney Tim Barker said."
Elsewhere the article mentions an 'AR-15-style rifle'.
I had to reorganize the paragraphs of the story, and some MSM just talk about the men and how they contributed to policing without mentioning the ambush at all.
The police had reports of a man with a scope/rifle but they all bunched up to walk in the doorway? The perp opened and began firing continuously - immediately 3 were killed and a fourth was down.
I can see that yes, it was an ambush, but I kind of wonder how many people involved in setting it up (yes - tin foil is uncomfortable but I'm wearin' it! Deal with it!). There was a related story about another ambush a month ago or so which I lost track of. Someone hunting law enforcement? People report no photos available. Wondering if this is trans or illegal shooter.
Shooter was Mathew James Ruth. FR had an article with his name in the title yesterday. Mysteriously, a FReeper notes, "No reference to why the Mexican Consulate was notified, yesterday. " But when I watched the linked video, there was no mention of the Mexicann Consulate. That article said the shooter fired on the officers from the woods.

The reporter for News 8 pointed out that the cornfield had crime scene tape and apparently he assumed that was where the shooting took place.

In that press conference video, Ruth was reported as a 'white male dressed in cammo'.
A month ago, the ex-girlfriend had called the police when her vehicle was set on fire - she thought it might have been done by her ex boyfriend and because she was uncertain of the identity, she asked that the incident not be investigated further.
Comments on the videos and articles speak of 'domestic violence' but I see no confirmation that this was the actual reason for the shooting. They only dated for a short time and Ruth had never been to her home. II don't believe he was an 'ex-boyfriend' and wonder if he dated her to give him 'cover' as a romantic stalker when he was actually hunting LEOs. He may have chosen to 'date' her because he liked the location where she lived and the excuse it gave him (domestic violence).
