I don't have a television so today was my first glimpse of protesters in Chicago.
Imgur has a collection of videos of the really nasty situation in Broadview Illinios. It took about 10 ICE Agents wading into crowds who were screaming 'FACIST' and profanity at them. In one of the videos I'll link below, Protesters stand in front of vehicles leaving I.C.E. detention area and try to prevent movement. A woman is refusing to let vehicles leave by barring exit with her body. She's shoved out from in front of vehicle and she returns to shove the ICE agent, who then forcefully shoves her repeatedly until she hits the ground. Object lesson: Don't shove ICE agents. She returns to confront the agent repeatedly so an ICE AGENT walks by and calmly sprays something toward her face (pepper spray). She doesn't notice at first - initial application is subtle. But then her eyes start to burn and she sits down in the middle of the driveway, still blocking traffic, while people advise her the chemical burn is going to get worse unless she accepts some kind of treatment (water or?).
But ICE wants her out of the driveway and starts ordering MOVE MOVE MOVE and protesters insist (scream) she can't. But they move her. All this takes place amid clouds of tear gas with someone ringing a cowbell and a crowd of people screaming profanity, "Nazi!", and trying to shame the agents.

Yes I'm shocked to see a woman shoved like that but she was refusing allow ICE to function or move out of the driveway and shoved back against removal. She is being treated the same as if she were a male. The scene seems tense because the protesters are in some ways suceeding in halting movement of ICE and resisting orders to stay clear of the driveway - I think this could slow vehicles down while they are targeted. If Agents were not as aggressive as they are being, I don't see how vehicles could exit and enter the facility.
There's a Agent on the roof firing warning rounds (not bullets) which strike the ground near the mob and send up puffs of smoke/dirt which may be what a reporter referred to as 'pepper spray bullets'?
The protestors lay against the hood of the cars trying to exit while a reporter tells viewers that ICE vehicles are 'plowing through the crowd.' A man in partial Captain America costume stands in front of a car to bar it's movement (leaning against the hood) and as ICE deploys tear gas canisters. He picked up a cannister and threw it into the group of ICE agents, who then grabbed and pulled him into their compound. A protester wearing a gas mask an carrying what might be medical supplies for the tear gassed runs forward to support 'Captain American' (maybe he thought they 'had' to let him treat Capt. Am. for tear gas RIGHT THAT MOMENT) and instead is himself pulled into the compound, too.
The combination of tear gas, shoving back and pulling agressive protesters into the compound seems to have cleared the driveway. As the angry crowd disperses, you can see the crowd was not that big after all. By that I mean some filming optics may be in play with attempts to make it seem like the whole street is in motion. However, it did take 10 ice agents and a man or two on the roof, and several cannisters of tear gas to clear the driveway.
Why are all the protesters that want to “save” illegals” not protesting to save the innocent children killed in Chicago every weekend? If they care so much for fellow man what not care for those robbed, murdered or shot in crossfire in Chicago. I think it is because they don’t care for anyone just the money Soros organizations pay them.
